A lifetime of creative exploration
Loretta is a landscape painter whose work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world and the sacred rhythms within it. Raised on a Midwestern cattle farm surrounded by humble creatives, she developed a lifelong passion for making art—from painting and photography to gardening and textile work. But from the early teens and beyond, it has always been the magic of oil paint on canvas and the call of the landscape that kept pulling her back to the easel.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts and years of experience in both fine art and sacred iconography, Loretta’s landscapes are deeply informed by her spiritual sensibility and reverence for nature. Her artistic philosophy is shaped by the Hudson River School painters, whose luminous vistas sought to awaken awe and reflection. Yet her approach diverges from their romantic idealism—favoring a more grounded, contemporary view of the land as both beautiful and vulnerable.
Loretta sees the American landscape not as a symbol of exceptionalism, but as a living, complex presence—rich in history, diversity, and meaning. Her paintings explore the tension between wild beauty and ecological fragility, inviting viewers to consider their own relationship with the land. In an age of environmental awareness and spiritual searching, her work offers a quiet space for connection, reverence, and renewal.
Whether through commissioned work, studio practice, or teaching others, she continues to create art that fosters healing, beauty, and dialogue with the natural world.
