Echoes of Another Season (oil on canvas, 8x10)

$1,000.00

This was a favorite barn of mine to paint, as it was the spitting image of the grand old ladies that dotted the landscape of my youth. Majestic barns stand proudly at farms around the prairie and woods of northern Minnesota, where I grew up. I spent many hours as a kid inside our barns, with animals, or stacking straw bales, or chasing barn cats. Standing in the middle of the hayloft on a hot summer day, looking up two stories to the ceiling above and watching the shimmering straw dust swirl in the sunlight, or swinging from the ropes that suspended the elevators from the ceiling (don’t try that at home, kids!) was exhilarating. Barn memories are some of the best farm-kid memories.

This early work delves into particular oil painting techniques. Formerly part of a private collection, it has recently become available following the liquidation of the estate. It is offered with the option of the original frame (measures 13.5”x11.75”), as depicted.
